Shadow of Happiness

I interrupt this transmission to bring you happiness
Ironically these words are laced with bitter tongue
and wounded heart
You are not my first love, nor my last
You are simply a flame in the wind
A cloud in the sky
A leaf in the breeze
Beautiful at first
But with time, you disappear.
Like those before and after
My heart is a revolving door
As soon as one foot is out
The next person has begun their journey
That's hopeful enough
Or hopeless, I forget
Either way you look at it
My happiness is directly related to my self-destruction
So as I sit here and fall apart
I'm doing my part
To wear a smile
